The Trader 42 Signature has been proven to be one of the most versatile and capable craft on the market, delivering adventurous cruising in safety and exceptional comfort.
Her CE CAT A offshore rating reveals her rugged nature, as do the far flung cruises to the North of Norway and across the Bay of Biscay these boats have undertaken.
That one standard Trader 42 Signature has travelled more than 30,000 miles over five seasons is an amazing testament to her sea-going credentials.
While this boat is a proven passagemaker, that is certainly not the only string to her bow.
Practical helm and deck layouts make the Trader 42 Signature well suited to short-handed operation and a number of owners have taken advantage of the low air-draft to cruise the French canals to the Mediterranean.
Well designed open spaces and plenty of creature comforts mean these boats are as at home anchored in a Balearic Cala as taming the North Sea. Our interiors have long been admired for their quality and character and the Trader 42 Signature is particularly noteworthy.
Honeyed teak joinery displays the highest level of traditional craftsmanship while the modern design ensures great light throughout andluxurious finishing details. An ingenious use of space gives the impression of a far larger craft, with unique features such as a walk in engine room.

This year’s updates are the result of the feedback from owners who, between them, have years of experience onboard and are all designed to further develop the Trader 42 Signature’s appeal as a cruising yacht and a home from home.
There are over 120 enhancements to the boat on board, focused on comfort, utility and refinement. New glazing and detailing enhance her purposeful lines while transforming the interior spaces.
Life on board also benefits from a new central heating system which provides far greater versatility than conventional methods. Underway, a docking joystickwhich controls the propellers and bow thruster delivers unrivalled manoeuvrability.
The system has been developed by Cummins and is matched to their latest 6.7 QSB power units, now offered in ratings up to 480hp per engine.
Noise and refinement levels are greatly enhanced by a new proprietary underwater exhaust and a shaft system that isolates the engines from the propeller thrust, allowing much softer engine mounts to be used.
With hardtop and flybridge variants, as well as two or three cabin interior layouts, the versatile Trader 42 Signature can be personalized to suit each family and cruising environment.

The Trader 42 Signature is built to go to sea. Certified CE category A for offshore operation she has the design, build and engineering quality for the kind of intrepid cruising which is usually the preserve of larger and less versatile craft.
The underwater shape, from the drawing board of renowned Naval Architect Tony Castro, was developed using the Wolfson Institute’s tank testing facility in the UK and delivers the comfort and efficiency that are only offered by the very best semi-displacement hulls.
The distinctive fine-entry bow flows into a deep forefoot which together prevent slamming in the harshest conditions and give exceptional ride comfort. Tunnels are used to recess the propellers and a full length keel protects the stern gear and aids tracking. This great package is being enhanced by a number of innovations.
The latest CUMMINS QSB 6.7 engines are offered, taking the available power options up to twin 480hp and delivering the very latest in terms of efficiency and emissions standards. To aid manoeuvrability and the intuitive operation of the Trader 42 Signature, the new CUMMINS docking joystick is also standard fit. It links the engines to a powerful bow thruster and controlling them as one system can move the boat in any direction and rotate it through a single, simple, interface.
Further down the drivetrain, attention has turned to comfort on board. “Wake-Flow” is an innovative new underwater exhaust system with discharges at the transom that utilizes the movement of water under the hull to smoothly disperse the exhaust gasses and noise away from the boat.
The SEA TORQUE Bolt On Shaft System has been employed on the new Trader 42 Signature to ensure that shaft-line noise and vibration are eliminated at source.
Incorporating a non-rotating shaft casing anda thrust bearing that is integrated in the stern gland, the BOSS reduces underwater drag and transfers the driveline thrust directly into the structure of the boat.
With the engines isolated from the shaft and coupled with universal joint they can be mounted much more softly than in conventional installations, reducing noise and vibration to the benefit of comfort for all on board.
The systems on board the Trader 42 Signature have been enhanced for comfort and ease of use and the boat is supplied comprehensively equipped.
The high standard specification ensures that the various elements interact together as seamlessly as possible for efficient operation and reliability.
The new central heating system, for example, will further enhance life on board. Based around a comboboiler powered by diesel, it provides heating, hot water and demisting functions.
Separate controls allow for individual levels in each cabin space and, through integration, the system can utilise engine exhaust heat to conserve energy as well as reducing generator demand.
Enhanced by the latest technological developments and engineered with experience, the new Trader 42 Signature is more versatile and refined than ever before.
